Why should you trust me?
I've been writing since 2019, have published a number of short stories, plus five novels, some of which have been bestsellers in their field. All were self-published, which means that I have already been through this journey a number of times before.
So I know the fear that strikes when you look at all the things you need to do in order to get your books out there. I remember the overwhelming number of choices I had to make at every step, and the paralysis of wondering whether I made the wrong decision.
On the technology side, I had a career in telecommunications before I became a writer. I have been playing with computers since I was a child (too many years ago to admit). Back then, you had to write your own code since there weren't tools to do things for you. Later, I set up websites back when you had to hand-code everything. I used email before the software remembered your contacts for you, and every form of 'social media' since bulletin boards were a thing. That gave me a deep understanding of how all this stuff works behind the scenes.
But things have changed and evolved over the years. I've kept up with the developments, and can honestly say that it's never been easier to get started than it is today. On the other hand that means that there are more options to choose from than ever before. My experience lets me see which are worthwhile for a beginner, and which are possible dead-ends that would be more trouble than they're worth in the long run.
So I know what I'm talking about, from a tech and a writer's perspective. You're in good hands.
